Medicare is 47 years old this week

Who Signed Medicare Into Law

by roger chartierRoger Chartier -author of www.Social-Security.biz

Well it was so long ago that most people don't remember who signed the  medicare law or even when it came into being.

Ok, Ok I'll tell you it was LBJ otherwise known as our very own former President Lyndon Banes Johnson.

Here, he is pictured below here.

Up until he signed the law, only about a half of American seniors had some insurance for health. This was only 47 years ago, and it cost a lot of people their lives as they died from lack of health care up to that time.

Health insurance for seniors back in those times cost the older people in our country more than double what it should have.

Retired folk's money

Of course, the retired folks weren't earning as much money as they had in the past.

This was a real problem for most older folks who were poorer than the rest of the country's population.

So when it comes time to vote remember what you have read here. This can and very well might save your life in the future.

Remember!

Remember that you will not have the income that you now have and that Medicare will almost surely save your life at some point in the future.

I know of many people who could not survive and/or would not have survived today without it.
